Reviews

Dave is a brilliant tutor. His enthusiastic approach to math helped me prepare for the TMUA. His passion for the subject and his deep understanding meant he could explain concepts in a clear and concise manner. When further questioned, he was able to explain the reasoning behind complex mathematics allowing my understanding to grow beyond the A Level curriculum. He helped me achieve results beyond expectations in this entrance exam!

Georgia, age 17

I don’t know how to describe it! Maths at school is cool, but maths with Dave is SO much more fun - I get to learn about stuff like gravity and powers, which I would never get to learn about at school! It’s so great!

Milan, age 8

Dave has been tutoring our 8 year old with the aim of building his confidence and enthusiasm for maths. He could not be more perfect for the job. His brilliant mind means he can convey deep mathematical understanding in an intuitive fashion, uniquely blended with patience, humour and creativity. Dave really understands children, and is able to tailor the lessons to their individual capacity and needs. He immediately picked up on our son’s interest in history and science and managed to weave relevant facts into the lesson to keep him engaged. We could not recommend him more highly.

My services

I offer mathematics tutoring for all ages, from primary to A-level, along with specialised guidance for students aspiring to attend Oxford or Cambridge University.

I am passionate about assisting young individuals in mastering mathematics, known for my patience, accessibility, and enthusiasm.

Tutoring sessions can be conducted both in person and online. Located in south central Cambridge, UK, I am ideally positioned for the many schools and sixth form colleges in the area.

I tailor my lessons to each student, helping them with any areas they may be having trouble with, but also looking to expand upon their knowledge and trying to convey an understanding of the underlying principles rather than simple rote learning.

I also throw in a bit of math's history, science and mathematical puzzles to give context and show that math's can be a stimulating and rewarding subject.

My profile

I received a scholarship to pursue Engineering at Cambridge University, marking the beginning of my over 30-year career as a mathematical researcher specialising in audio signal processing. During my career my work won many industry awards and I jointly received a Technical Achievement Award at the 2005 Oscars as well as being honoured at the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards for my contributions to the field.

A passionate mentor, I have guided numerous audio researchers and students at the degree level, priding myself on my ability to simplify complex concepts into understandable lessons.
